Different Types of Flooring Methods in General

Prefab Flooring Methods

The flooring cost involved in a dwelling includes the material cost and the cost of maintenance generally speaking. The appeal of adobes in the prefab tiny house would determine the type of flooring. There are plenty of materials used on the floor in any dwelling. Here are some flooring methods in general and their relative characteristics.

Wooden Floorboards are Insulated to Prevent Moisture

Floorboards are hinged on the floor joists using screws or nails. In the tongue and groove flooring system, individual boards snap together tightly even with zero nails. There are the two conventional flooring types – hinged, tongue and groove – upon which insulation shall be layered. Floorboards tend to get moisturized when dwellings are not properly insulated.

Battens can be Lifted from the Ground

The general contractor uses batten to aid the sound transmission on the floor. The battens can be either metal strips or even solid wood. These strips are attached in such a way that no gaps are left on the floor, among individual battens. This type of flooring method can be used anywhere. Builders use lifted battens on the prefab tiny house outdoor as well.

Block Floors are Common in Prefab Basement

Timber blocks in shapes square or rectangular are layered on the sand bed in block flooring. Such type of flooring method is uncommonly used on small prefab homes due to low moisture. Even on a prefab, blocks are floored in basement and driveway; at places where footprints are heavy. Block floor prevents moisture from creeping into the prefab basement.

Clay Floors are Non-Insulated Generally

Clay floor can be prepared with viscous soil or sawdust. The soil is applied in layers, 6 millimeters thick, and tampered gradually until the floor hardens. The total thickness shall be hardened to approximately 100 millimeters or four feet high. Non-insulated flooring methods are used mainly in the hidden spaces rather than highly populated areas.

The floor can be leveled to perfection, thermally insulated with non-toxic materials in prefab housing. Builders usually use ceramic tiles for the flooring of bathrooms in a prefab home. Unlike other materials, ceramic tiles come in different color and are used as even the wall claddings.
